When Tim Cook casually mentions Apple has big plans for next year, does he mean HDTV big? That’s something many people will be expecting, and even if it doesn’t suddenly appear out of a Cupertino lab, we’ll likely hear rumors about it until it does. So what would such a TV set actually look like if it did exist? Leave it up to Martin Hajek, who has produced some excellent Apple renders in the past, to dream up something straight from the future. It looks like an iMac, but better.
The render doesn’t stray all that far from Apple designs available today, but it certainly pushes the limits, looking like something you’d probably find in Jony Ive’s office. There’s a curved display, minimal bezel, aluminum build, and an interface that would immediately be familiar to millions of fans around the world.
This year has been full of Apple television rumors, and Tim Cook has said the company is looking to enter new product categories. But with an iWatch supposedly on the way, does Apple have enough resources to produce both new products?
Ever since it was revealed that Steve Jobs cracked the formula for TV, rumors and analysts have run rampant with reports, with one analyst even claiming Apple will release 55-inch and 65-inch 4K UHD TVs in 2014. All reports feel more like folk tales, more hope than actual fact, but that doesn’t mean people can’t hold onto that hope—we wouldn’t have these nice renders to look at without it.
