Well this is a nice treat. Amazon on Tuesday announced that anyone who downloads any app or game from the Amazon Appstore on Android will get a free $5 credit toward future purchases. In other words, you can download anything, free or not, and get a free $5 credit for something you might want down the road, including in-app purchases. Customers must download the app between today, Dec. 24, and Dec. 28 to be eligible. Also, as a reminder, Amazon’s Appstore is available for most Android devices; you don’t need to own a Kindle Fire just to access it.

Amazon also said that it’s going to offer a free premium app, one that typically costs money, each day between now and Dec, 28, including two free bundles of apps on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26. During that time period, it will also offer sales on games from Gameloft, Sega and Electronic Arts. Here’s a look at what’s coming:

  • One-day-only sale on Office Suite Pro 7 – only $0.99 (originally $14.99) on Dec. 26
  • Free App of the Day bundles (savings of over $50):

    • Dec. 26 – Free App of the Day Favorites, which includes Daily Ab Workout, The Lost City, Voxel Invaders, Chimpact, Osmos HD,Fraction Calculator Plus, Ultimate Hangman HD, From Cheese, and Business Calendar
