Nintendo is now selling a high-capacity replacement battery for the Wii U’s GamePad.
The GamePad currently, depending on some minor factors, gets most users right around four hours of play on each charge. Anyone who marathon games with Super Mario 3D World or, say, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will likely attest to this big downfall for the system.
Thank goodness for this fix. Here’s how Nintendo describes the new battery’s life and installation process.
This battery offers up to 8 hours of use and can be easily installed using a screwdriver and included instructions.
Battery Capacity: 2550mAh / 9.2 Wh (offers up to 8 hours of use, compared to 3–5 hours with standard Wii U GamePad Battery) Battery Voltage: 3.6V
The new battery checks in at $32.99. It can be purchased from Nintendo directly.
If you play a lot of Wii U and find your GamePad often on its last leg of battery, this seems like a worthwhile pick up. I know it’s on my radar for a nearby purchase, how about you?
