HTC One Developer Edition to Get Android 4.4.2 KitKat

After Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, HTC promised that the update would eventually roll out to U.S. devices within 90 days. While we’ve already seen that update, and the latest Android 4.4.2 release hit the Google Play Edition, HTC had not, until now, revealed much about what was coming for the One Developer Edition.

Now we know that HTC’s developer model will indeed get Android 4.4.2, thanks to a recent confirmation by the company’s executive director of product management, Mo Versi, who confirmed the update on Twitter.

We still don’t know when it will launch, however, but Versi said HTC will eventually provide an update on timing. We suspect that means the same software will launch on the carrier iterations of the smartphone, though it will still need to go through testing on each operator one by one. Perhaps we’ll see HTC skip Android 4.4 entirely, moving all devices right to Android 4.4.2.

We can hope, at least.
