Mass Effect came, saw, and conquered the previous generation as the best new franchise of the last half decade. What started off as a trilogy with a clear-cut ending has proven popular enough to expand further into a bigger franchise, and the world watches and waits as BioWare Montreal brings it into the next generation.
We shouldn’t be too far off, either. BioWare’s Edmonton and Montreal General Manager Aaryn Flynn has stated in a Twitter post that the game is up and running in a fully playable state.
Great time playing the next Mass Effect game in Montreal. Ambitious. Beautiful. Fresh but recognizable. And fun! pic.twitter.com/xHlHFGtVKM

Fresh and new sounds like the best and only way Mass Effect can go at this point. Retreading on old ground is not going to make players happy, but attempting to tie three completely different endings into a single storyline could prove to be a challenge for BioWare.
We already know that the game is not going to star Shepard, so where do you think Mass Effect will go from here on out? Is a prequel in our midst, or are we fast tracking towards the future?
