Samsung’s rumored 10-inch AMOLED tablet will supposedly launch as early as next month, according to Korea’s ETNews. With CES coming in early January, Samsung will certainly have the opportunity to announce the device on a big stage. That doesn’t mean, however, that’s when we’ll see an announcement.
Sources speaking to ETNews claim the device will compete directly with Apple’s iPad Air and sport a high-resolution AMOLED display. It’s unclear what big hardware advancements the device will feature, but if it’s competing with the Air, it’ll likely sport a thin design with minimal bezel.
Samsung supposedly has high expectations for the upcoming device, hoping to sell around “ten times” as much as its previous AMOLED-equipped tablet, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, which only sold about 500,000 units, ETNews said. There’s no additional reporting on Samsung’s other alleged 8-inch device, and specs are still noticeably absent from this rumor.
Samsung essentially owns the Android smartphone space, but the tablet race is a different story. Going up against the iPad Air won’t be easy, but we should find out pretty soon here if the Korean company is up to the task.
