WayForward’s upcoming entry in the Shantae line for the Nintendo 3DS has, unfortunately, been hit with a minor delay. The silky smooth action platformer will now be available in 2014.
Matt Bozon, Creative Director at WayForward, points to the early months of 2014 for a release window.
Looking at sometime this winter for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. So Dec 21 – Mar 19 timeframe. A couple more months, best guess.

I had a chance to play Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse‘s demo at NYCC this fall. I really, really enjoyed it, and it’s one Nintendo 3DS game that I expect will make a lot of aging gamers like myself a little giddy.
It feels like a classic action platformer, a genre that’s tough to recapture. WayForward’s always been up to the task, and we’ll have our eyes locked on this upcoming title.
