With two years of declining revenue under its belt, HTC is looking to current CFO Chang Chailin for answers. The Taiwanese company told Bloomberg via email on Monday that Chang will also now serve as head of global sales, taking over from Jason Mackenzie who will lose those responsibilities but maintain his other role as the president of North America.
Bloomberg was told Chang will hold dual responsibilities until a transition from CFO “makes sense.” The company is looking to pull itself out of a nine quarter slump after missing analyst estimates and running into increasing pressure from competitors.
The movement within HTC is part of a larger restructuring as the company attempts to reverse its fortunes; in June, Matthew Costello stepped down as HTC’s COO. There’s been plenty of movement within the HTC ranks over the past few months, along with its first quarterly operating loss in company history. With just about every important aspect of HTC on the decline, Chang certainly has plenty of burden on his shoulders. Maybe the prospect of an HTC One successor will help.
