Last week, Android 4.4.2 started rolling out to Google’s Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Now, the software update that fixes a few bugs and improves the overall performance is rolling out to the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the HTC One Google Play Edition.
The two devices were launched (and now are joined by a few others) as developer-friendly smartphones that are promised the latest updates of Android as they’re released. As we’ve started to see, however, the Nexus devices still get the updates first while developers have to wait a bit longer for the releases to the Google Play Edition phones.
You’ll likely get an over-the-air notification telling you that an update is ready, though you can also manually check by going into settings. If the roll-out is anything like the Nexus 7 (2013) KitKat update, however, it might take a while to hit every single device.
