TechnoBuffalo Minecraft Christmas Creeper - 2012

The world turns, progress moves forward and Minecraft continues to sell millions and millions of copies.

As of this morning, the original PC and Mac version of the block placing, breaking, crafting and arranging wonder that is Minecraft crossed the 13,000,000 sold mark.

Markus “Notch” Persson, the game’s original creator and head of Mojang, tweeted a glorious official statement to go along with the news.

Minecraft is everywhere. It’s on phones, consoles, tablets and computers. It’s in homes, classrooms, colleges, the subway and nerdy dreams. This little game has blown up into a scale I don’t think any of us saw coming.

I hear kids talk about it on the playground when I’m hanging out with my son. That’s awesome. Especially for a game made by such a small team.

Do you own Minecraft yet? If not, what’s been stopping you?
