Despite reports to the contrary, former Apple vice president Tony Fadell didn’t purchase that one-of-a-kind red Mac Pro. He didn’t buy those gold EarPods, either, even though images suggested otherwise. Fadell cleared the confusion up on Twitter, saying he isn’t the owner of either auctioned item. When the red Mac Pro was finally sold, it went for an incredible $977,00, while the EarPods went for $461,000. That’s some expensive technology.

Since that news has been cleared up, we can all continue on with our lives. It’s currently unclear who the owner of both products is—there could be multiple owners—but at least we know the items were sold for a good cause. The final tally for the Product Red fund was around $1.4 million for just two Apple products, one of which that comes with many of the company’s mobile products. So Apple’s most expensive computer didn’t end up in the hands of a former Apple executive, so who did purchase the red Mac Pro?

“The real owner will reveal themselves if they so choose,” Fadell said.
