YouTube Rewind Video Recaps The Year That Was

We watch a ridiculous amount of YouTube. In celebration of the end of 2013, YouTube has put together a Year In Review landing page that highlights the top trending videos, music videos and channels. TechnoBuffalo didn’t make the cut—yet—but there’s some terrific content on display, and YouTube even breaks things down by category, including Geek, Education, Pranks and more. The ever crass and excitable PewDiePie has the number one channel, at 17 million subscribers, followed by Smosh and some other big names. We’re happy to see The Epic Split feat. Van Damme make the list, at just under 60 million views.

YouTube Rewind actually made a recap video that highlights all the popular moments of this year, with some nice cameos from YouTube personalities such as Kid President and the Prancercise lady. Even the Slow Mo Guys make an appearance, along with several other big Pop Culture references. The top trending video of the year? It wasn’t PSY’s Gentleman, but Ylvis’ ear piercing The Fox, which was viewed over 276 million times. Check the page out for a full review of 2013, and don’t forget to watch the rewind video for a mashup of all the best moments.
