Android Device Manager Now Available In Google Play

Google’s Android Device Manager, which until now was only available on the Web, has finally launched as a standalone app in Google Play. The app brings along similar functionality to services like Apple’s Find My iPhone, and let’s users Ring, Lock and Erase their Android device(s). The security measure is super easy to use; I pinged my Moto X to ring and within ten seconds it started yelling. Just press the power button to make the ringing stop.

Having the app on your one and only device likely won’t do much good, especially if it’s lost, but if you have a secondary tablet, such as the Nexus 7 (or any other Android tablet), this is a nice little app to have. Nobody wants to lose their handset, especially if you’re in an unfamiliar place. Luckily services like this exit to help users better keep track of where their handsets are.
