Parts of Facebook appear to be down right now. We’ve been trying to publish a few stories to the TechnoBuffalo Facebook page, though the site keeps telling us that the “message could not be posted to this timeline.” We originally thought it might just be a local error, something related only to our page, though a quick search revealed others are having the same problem.

The Chicago Tribune also noticed that it’s unable to publish posts to its Facebook page, which means most other brands might be having trouble running posts, too. Normally this probably doesn’t seem like a big deal, though as Facebook tries to convince advertisers that it should be the go-to place for marketing budget spending, perhaps it should work on stabilizing things a bit more. Without a place to run stories or promote products, brands may start to look to other social networks.

Obviously this could just be a minor hiccup. However, we’re noticing sporadic issues with our own Facebook Page at the moment as well. Facebook hasn’t posted any news on the outage just yet, but we’ll keep you in the loop if it does.

Update 1 (4:51 p.m. Eastern) : Reports are mixed as to whether or not this issue has been resolved as of yet. Service has been coming back up, going back down and then coming back up again. Additionally some are still reporting issues with scheduling posts and adding images.

Update 2 (5:45 p.m. Eastern) : Facebook appears to be functioning normally once again.
