Moto X Gets Charming New Boot Animation, Update for Active Display

This is pretty neat. Motorola further expanded its bag of tricks by adding a new boot animation to the Moto X, matching the spirit of the holiday season. In place of the device’s original animation, the Google company has quietly added a fancy new holiday theme with cats, dogs, bears, and a number of other cutesy illustrations celebrating the most wonderful time of the year. It’s actually pretty charming, and slightly mirrors the design of Google’s terrific Now service. The new animation might have already been added to your device—even without you knowing—so check it out if you’re curious.

On a side note, Motorola has also updated its Active Display app that promises a more responsive experience. Personally, I never noticed any lag since the Moto X was updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, but apparently many users did run into issues. Via the Active Display Google Play link, Motorola says the updated fixed the bug that caused 1-2 second delay when swiping down or up to unlock the device. You can download the update now by heading to Google Play.
