Samsung Galaxy Round-Back Detail

A mysterious new Samsung smartphone was spotted on benchmarking site GFXBench today with the model number SM-G900S. The device boasts a 2K 2560 x 1440-pixel display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

It’s possible that this is the Galaxy S5, but these specs just don’t live up to what we expect to see in Samsung’s next flagship smartphone. The S5 is expected to feature a new 64-bit processor. This device doesn’t even offer the latest Snapdragon 805 processor, instead running the Snapdragon 800, which Qualcomm released in mid-2013. It’s possible Samsung will swap in an faster processor later on, but for now, this could just be another high-end phone that launches before the Galaxy S5.

Based on the device’s model number,the SM-G900S may be a follow-up to the recently-released Galaxy Round (model number SM-G910S). Samsung’s curved smartphone was put to shame by LG’s G Flex—which featured a curved battery and could actually bend—so it’s possible the Samsung is already testing an improved Galaxy Round 2 device.
