It was already common knowledge that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong will both be playable in the solo or cooperative romp that will be Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Wii U. We also learned not too long ago that Dixie Kong would be a third playable character.
It looks like the boxart for the game might have inadvertently revealed its fourth playable character: Cranky Kong.
French gaming site Nintendo Town discovered the official European boxart for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Right smack dab in the middle are the aforementioned, previously announced playable characters, Donkey, Diddy and Dixie. Swinging in tow is Cranky Kong.
It could easily be argued that Cranky’s presence on the cover suggests is a side character that will remain completely unplayable. Sure, it’s possible. But by sitting in the center with three other characters that gamers will be able to control, it’s heavily suggested that Cranky will be the fourth character.
Who else is even in the runnings? Funky Kong? As great as Funky is, he’d be on the cover if he was playable.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will hit the Wii U in February of next year.
