Moto X MotoMaker Struggles to Stay Online During Cyber Monday Sale (Update)

Motorola is currently offering the Moto X starting at just $349 unlocked as part of its Cyber Monday deal, and only through the Moto Maker website. Unfortunately, however, the company is having a hard time keeping the site online, which is going to prevent shoppers from being able to purchase the phone.

We tried it first thing this morning and the site is returning an “Internal Server Error” and says it is unable to complete our request. On additional attempts, the site loads partially but not completely enough to customize a phone. Motorola says it is being met with more demand than was originally expected, especially since the sale includes the ability to customize your own Moto X. Perhaps the deal was too good to be true after all, though we hope kinks are able to be worked out so that users can buy the device.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience, we had an extraordinary amount of traffic to our Moto Maker site this morning,” Motorola said in a statement to TechnoBuffalo. “We are working quickly to get Motorola.com back online and we’ll keep you posted via Twitter (@Motorola) on when we’ll be able take online orders and start our Cyber Monday promo.”

We’ll keep you in the loop if anything changes.

Update: Motorola’s Moto X Developer edition is now available for $399.99. The custom Moto X for consumers still isn’t available, however.
