And here come the Hollywood postponements. Originally scheduled for release on Dec. 18, 2015, Legendary’s Warcraft movie directed by Duncan Jones has been pushed back into 2016.
Why the delay? It probably has nothing to do with the production or quality of the film, but rather it has everything to do with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII flick opening the same day. Don’t want to release dead-on-arrival do you?
The new release day is March 11, 2016, a little early for summer blockbusters and a little late for the holiday season. This means it will go unnoticed, or it might be a huge hit facing little competition.
I only hope that these delays don’t push it back too far. World of Warcraft is bleeding subscribers rapidly these days, and it might not be so relevant if this film ever comes out. The namesake this movie was banking on peaked half-a-decade ago, and the mainstream doesn’t refer to it much anymore.
Timing is everything in Hollywood, and Warcraft was already late-coming. Now it is coming even later.
