“New Nintendo IP” is more often than not a term I use for wishful thinking rather than something that is currently in the works, but today is one of those rare days where my wish might come true. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has posted an interesting story on his Twitter account regarding Pikmin designer Masamichi Abe.
He is in Nintendo Kyoto now. working on some Nintendo original title RT@2Andrin what happened to Masamichi Abe? Is he retired?

Although, why a developer at Namco would know the inner workings at Nintendo is beyond me, the two have a history of working together on Tekken 2, so it could possibly be that they are just old drinking buds.
Editor’s note: Namco is working with Sora on the upcoming Smash, so those lines might have blurred a little more than we know. -Joey
Abe has worked on a handful of Nintendo titles like the first two Pikmin games, Metroid Prime: Hunters, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again. Judging by his resume, it would seem like he is developing for the 3DS, an exciting proposition in regards to all the nice little games which keep popping up on the eShop.
One can only speculate on new Nintendo franchises, because that’s a secret it doesn’t throw around lightly. Should it be true, I wonder if it will be out in time to be a Super Smash Bros. trophy.
Nintendo has yet to comment on Harada’s tale, so treat this as a rumor.
