Just in time for the holidays, Carphone Warehouse has unveiled three new candy-coated Galaxy S4 Mini models. The British phone-seller will offer the mid-range handset in bright orange, pink and purple as part of an exclusive deal with Samsung.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is a significant downgrade from Samsung’s flagship handset. It comes equipped with a 4.3-inch 960 x 540-pixel display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage with microSD support up to 64GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1,900mAh battery, and NFC. The device runs Android 4.2.2 out of the box with a version of TouchWiz that’s missing a few key features like Dual Shot and Air Gestures.
There’s nothing explicitly wrong with the Galaxy S4 Mini, though it fails to offer the full Galaxy S4 experience in a smaller design. At this point however, there are plenty of better options on the market. If you’re looking for a cheap Android device check out the Moto G. Even flagship smartphones like the Moto X and HTC One are seeing significant price drops, though none of those devices are available in orange, pink or purple in the U.K.
