Moto G Headed to Tesco For £99

The Moto G is poised to conquer the entry-level smartphone market at just $179 unlocked in the U.S. and £135 in the U.K., but one British retailer is already trying to undercut its competition. Tesco Mobile announced today that it will sell the new handset starting at just £99 for the 8GB model or £129 for the 16GB variant.

Motorola’s newest smartphone comes equipped with a 4.5-inch 720p display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, a 2,070mAh battery and 1GB of RAM, but lacks NFC and LTE connectivity. The Moto G runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with a promise to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat in January 2014, though at Motorola’s rate upgrading the Moto X, it could come even sooner.

Unfortunately, the Moto G isn’t available from Tesco just yet, and we don’t know when it’s coming, though you can already order it from a number of British retailers, including Phones4U. No matter where you buy the device you’ll probably be getting a great deal, but if you don’t mind waiting just a little bit longer you’ll be able to pick up the new handset for under £100.
