Nuclear winter is coming. Or so says Bethesda, who has a new teaser site up with a countdown to the biggest apocalyptic event ever, Fallout 4.
Roughly five days remain until Bethesda has news for us on the end of the world, but it might even be telling us the scoop now. Behind the countdown is a Morse code message blaring away. Anybody here schooled in the ancient language of blips and bloops? I might have an app for that, hold on.
“NCRA UNIT BST 314 7 EMRG MSG NEW YORK STAGE 7 WASHINGTON STAGE 7 LOS ANGELES STAGE 7 AUSTIN STAGE 7 CHICAGO STAGE 7 NEW ORLEAE EEE TG E7 LAS VEGAS UNKNO MIAMI STAGE 7 DALLAEEE E T GE 7 DEE E T N E 7 A E EIT”
It’s so pathetic that I have to use a smartphone to translate what is supposed to be a survivor’s tool. What is happening to the world? Other outlets have reported different messages, so Bethesda has been changing it up periodically too.
Just last week, a Fallout 4 trademark was spotted in Europe, leading many to think that an announcement was imminent. This is about as imminent as it gets, so be sure to bundle up for the freezing cold hell of nuclear winter when the countdown finishes next Monday.
I was wondering how Bethesda was going to give Fallout 4 an original voice after how successful the last two games were. Nuclear winter would be an excellent setting for changing up the formula. I wonder if survival will revolve around staying warm.
