Guess the Device: Time For Some New Blood

As you can see, this isn’t a phone or tablet. So what is it? Tough, I know. You’ve spent many long nights with this thing, exploring worlds, sneaking past infected biters and chasing down vigilantes. It’s gone through a number of redesigns, experienced its fair share of issues—including one very unfortunate outage—and battled through what became one of the closest races in history. But through it all, it had some of the best exclusive titles, and one very lively online community.

Of course, it wasn’t always sunshine and beautiful vistas. From the outset, it seemed this mystery product was almost trying to fail, trying to be unattainable to all but its most hardcore fanbase. But it re-gained its balance, found its footing soon became home to some of the best experiences the market has ever seen. Compared to its counterpart, I’d argue it had the better exclusive titles—that’s always up for debate, of course.

I actually had this iteration way back when, got it soon after it came out following a trade-in and discount. It was actually the better longterm investment because of one very important feature that was later taken out. But it unfortunately didn’t last, and it one day ran its course thanks to a well-known YLoD issue. Such is life. My memories of it will always live on.

Last week’s Guess the Phone was the Motorola Photon 4G.
