The Nexus 5 is available for $449.99 at full retail, however, which is more than Google sells it for. Meanwhile, the Nexus 7 is available for $384 without a contract, though if you buy it upfront you’ll also get 200MB of free data each month before you have to buy more from T-Mobile. If you want to take advantage of a lower up-front cost, you can buy the Nexus 5 for $42 down with $17 payments each month for 24 months, or the Nexus 7 for $0 down with 24 monthly payments of $16.
We’re still waiting on the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Nexus 7 (2013), though we suspect it should land in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Nexus 5 is the first device to run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and is still shipping within a few weeks from Google’s Play Store, so your best bet is to hit up a T-Mobile if you want one faster.
