Nokia’s 10.1-inch Lumia 2520 launches in the United States this week, but the company is reportedly already working on its second tablet, the Lumia 2020, which will sport an 8-inch display and launch during the first quarter of next year, DigiTimes said Thursday. The news outlet did not provide any other information on the device, though we’ve heard of the tablet before.
Earlier this month a rumor describing the “Illusionist” also discussed an 8-inch tablet that runs Windows RT 8.1. We don’t yet know what kind of specs it will offer, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it pack the same Snapdragon 800 processor that’s available in the Lumia 2520 and a similar PureView camera. We also presume it will have a polycarbonate body and launch in various colors, as is typical of most Lumia devices these days.
We have one concern about this rumor, though: Microsoft is also reportedly building its own smaller Windows Surface tablets in the 7-inch to 8-inch range, so we’re not so sure it’s going to want to launch those in addition to a product from Nokia, which it is in the process of acquiring.
