Amazon frequently discounts phones down to 1 cent after they have been on the market for a few months, but today’s deal is better than most. The carrier is offering the Moto X for just a penny, and that’s important because Verizon is already rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat to the smartphone. Yes, that means you can be one of the first on your block to be running Android 4.4 KitKat with a phone that costs 1 cent with a new two-year contract.
Better yet, the Moto X alone still stands as one of our favorite Android smartphones currently on the market. It doesn’t offer today’s latest hardware, but Motorola worked in some software magic. You can speak “OK Google Now” and the phone will wake up, ready for your search command. Likewise, it has an “Active Display” that shows you notifications without asking you to unlock the device. Plus, it’s super pocketable and small enough for Android fans who can’t quite get on board with the phablet craze.
You won’t be able to customize the phone through Moto Maker on Amazon, which is definitely a drawback, but Android 4.4 KitKat and the price tag more than make up for that small offset.
