Fallout 3 was a highlight of the previous gaming generation and perhaps even a highlight in the grand scale of video games. Many have clamored for a sequel over the years since Fallout: New Vegas felt like Obsidian hand-me-downs, and now those fans just might have something to look forward too.
Fallout 4 has been trademarked by Bethesda across the pond in the European Union. Of course, this does not confirm that a release will definitely occur in the next few years, but it is a shining beacon of hope that the AAA gaming studio over at Bethesda will return to the series they saved from oblivion.
It’s also fair to note that just because Bethesda filed for trademark doesn’t mean they will develop it. Perhaps they might only publish it this time around, too.
Bethesda has made leaps and bounds to improve their game ever since Fallout 3, and Skyrim proves that the talented folks there are capable of perfecting their style of fantasy RPG. I’ve always admired The Elder Scrolls, but I have never loved it.
Should they bring that new level of quality to the destroyed world of Fallout and put some serious hardware behind it, then we will have an amazing follow up to one of the greatest games ever made on our hands.
Now all we have to do is wait for this rumor to pan out to be true, and we’ll be all set. Please make this happen, Bethesda. Everybody wants you to.
