Verizon Wireless announced today that it will begin selling the BlackBerry Z30 on Thursday, Nov. 14 through its online store for $199.99 with a two-year-contract. As expected, the BlackBerry 10.2 phablet is a Verizon exclusive at launch.

The Z30 comes equipped with a 5-inch 1280 x 720p Super AMOLED display at 294ppi, a 2,880mAh battery, a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD. BlackBerry 10.2 also brings a handful of new tweaks and features to the operating system.

With its first phablet, BlackBerry is venturing into new territory in a bid to win back smartphone consumers who are leaving the BlackBerry 10 ecosystem for Android handsets with increasingly bigger screens. It’s unclear if BlackBerry users have any interest in a 5-inch device from the Canadian smartphone maker, but this may the company’s last chance at success.
