Android 4.3 is already rolling out to copies of the Galaxy S III and S4 in some regions, but for Galaxy Note II owners there’s still no official word on when the update will arrive. It looks like the software upgrade will land by the end of the month though, with SamMobile reporting that the company’s service centers already have access to the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy Note II.
U.S. carriers typically roll out OEM updates a few weeks or months after they hit other countries, largely due to extensive testing required in the U.S. Considering one user in India spotted an update with an Oct. 31 build date, U.S. Note II owners could be lucky to see it later this month, though we’re only speculating.
Android 4.3 itself is a minor update, offering a handful of improvements including the ability to set restricted account on your device for child use. The big changes will comes from Samsung’s own software, including support for the Galaxy Gear and new KNOX security features. As for Android 4.4 KitKat, there’s still no word from Samsung on which devices will get the latest version of Google’s OS and when it might arrive.
