Following rumors that Google had partnered with Warby Parker to roll out a trendier design for Google Glass, in addition to a model with prescription lenses, it looks the search giant has tapped a different company to bring Project Glass into the mainstream. Rochester Optical announced today that it’s been selected to produce custom prescription, fashion and sport lenses for future Google Glass models.

Rochester Optical may just be designing the lenses and not the frames, leaving the possibility that a trendier brand like Warby Parker could step in to fill that role. However, the NY-based company also makes fully functional eyeglasses  and civilian and military eyewear, so it may be in charge of the entire design.

Rochester Optical says its first Google Glass products will hit the market in 2014, confirming earlier reports that a mass release for the wearable device is quickly approaching.
