Hyper Light Drifter has its first uncut gameplay video, and things look and sound delicious. The art style, the frantic combat, the enemy management and the aural vibe of the world all come together nicely.
The scary part? This is pre-alpha. It’s only gonna get more polish from here.
Here’s the YouTube description of the video:
This is a pre-alpha basic demonstration – leveling has been left out, and the weapon set is very limited. We want to highlight a few key things for everyone, like the shield push, missile deflect/cut, and enemy management.
Preston also took to the comment section to explain how the combat works in the game, albeit briefly.
There’s no auto targeting. This is played with a controller, analogue stick.
We interviewed Alex Preston, the main man behind Hyper Light Drifter, back when the project was still earning funds as a Kickstarter. You can read that feature in full right here.
Hyper Light Drifter won’t release until sometime next year, likely the latter portion. Once it does, expect it on the PC, PS Vita, PlayStation 4 and Wii U platforms.
