South Park: The Stick of Truth Delayed into 2014, New Trailer

Could South Park: The Stick of Truth be destined for eternal delays and eventual vaporware status? It already suffered an enormous setback when original publisher THQ went bankrupt, but a holiday release date under the Ubisoft branding gave it an outlook of hope for 2013.

That can now be thrown out the window. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have just announced that the game has been pushed further into 2014, possibly jokingly or possibly seriously blaming the quality.

“We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park. Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.”

Don’t feel too blue though, because Ubisoft has a new trailer primed and ready to blow your mind. So far we’ve only seen bits and glimpses of the game in action, but to see the game actually take the form of the television show is mind boggling. Seven minutes in and you’ll feel like its just a normal episode.

Who knows if the quality is up to speed or not, but never before has a game captured its source material so flawlessly. What do you think? The Final Fantasy battle system looks great if not a little slow, but the puzzle battles…not so much.

South Park: The Stick of Truth will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC next year.
