American Express, United Airlines and More Now Support Samsung Wallet

Samsung announced increased support for Samsung Wallet—its answer to Apple’s Passbook app—with over a dozen companies joining the service. The South Korean manufacturer’s new global partners include American Express, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Malaysia Airlines, Amtrak, Valpak, eGifter, Gyft, Yowza, SpotOn, Agoda, HRS, Opodo and Thrillcall.

Like similar services from Apple and third-party developers, Samsung Wallet is designed to replace paper tickets and receipts that fill up your physical wallet. It offers a single digital space to store and organize all your tickets, coupons and memberships. The app also offers time and location-based notifications.

Samsung first introduced the app earlier this year with a handful of partners including Walgreens, Expedia, Belly, Lufthansa and Hotels.com. The South Korean company offers an API for companies who want to add Samsung Wallet support in the future. The app is available through the Samsung app store or Google Play for a number of Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Note 3.
