Samsung Boasts 5M Galaxy Note 3 Units Shipped in First Month

The Galaxy Note 3 has been on the market for about a month now, and according to JK Shin the new device is already the company’s best performing phablet ever. During a press briefing in South Korea, the co-CEO told the press that Samsung has already shipped 5 million smartphones.

By comparison, it took Samsung two months to ship as many copies of the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II, and five months to ship that many copies of the original 5.3-inch Galaxy Note. Shin pointed to the phablet’s many improvements, including the redesigned S Pen and new Air Command feature, as reasons for the device’s success, though it probably also has something to do with the company’s increasing market share and brand recognition.

The Galaxy Note 3 comes equipped with a 5.7-inch 1920 x 1080p Super AMOLED display, a quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage with microSD support, a 13-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel rear camera, NFC, and a 3200mAh battery. It comes in black, white or pink and runs Android 4.3 out of the box with Samsung’s TouchWiz software on top.
