U.S. Cellular announced on Monday that it will provide the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to owners of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III in the coming weeks. The update will also include support for the Galaxy Gear, though that $299.99 smartwatch hasn’t exactly been met with praise. U.S. Cellular said that the update will also enable KNOX functionality on the aforementioned smartphones; KNOX is Samsung’s secure software suite for enterprise customers.
Samsung began rolling out a similar update to its global smartphones over the past few weeks, though it usually takes a bit more time for U.S. carriers to approve the software and begin pushing it out to consumers. AT&T is also planning a similar update, which will be applied to several Samsung devices between now and December.
U.S. Cellular did not provide a specific date for the Android 4.3 roll-out, though we hope it comes soon. Otherwise most consumers are going to start asking when the yet-unannounced Android 4.4 KitKat update for these devices is coming.
