We still don’t know when the updated iPad mini with Retina display will hit stores, but Space Gray copies of the original 7.9-inch tablet have already started showing up in a handful Apple Stores, 9to5Mac reports. As promised earlier this week, Space Gray and Silver copies of the tablet are priced at $299, and are also available to purchase through Apple’s website.

Apple will no longer offer the device with additional storage, though the iPad mini with Retina is available with up to 128GB for a Wi-Fi only version of  $820 for Wi-Fi and cellular data. The first-generation iPad Mini also comes in a 16GB cellular model for $429

Both iPad mini models offer the same basic design, but the newer model is equipped with a 2048×1536-pixel Retina display and Apple’s latest A7 processor for as little as $399. Recent reports suggest the mid-sized tablet could be in short supply at launch, and Apple refrained from giving a specific release date for the device, instead telling customers it would be available starting in early November.
