We’ve been hearing Nexus 5 launch rumors left and right for over a month now, and the latest report from Canadian site Mobile Syrup suggests Google will unveil the device on Oct. 31. Citing an anonymous tipster, the report claims the Nexus 5 will hit the Google Play store that same day and land on Canadian carriers in early November. It’s compelling, but given the number of missed predictions by the industry, we’re still not convinced just yet.
The elusive Nexus 5 first surfaced last month in a promotional video shot at the company’s Mountain View headquarters. Since then we’ve seen the device spotted in the wild on multiple occasions as well as press renders and screenshots of Android 4.4 KitKat running on the upcoming handset.
Google’s new smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera, NFC, and built-in wireless charging. The Nexus 5 will likely come in black or white and an earlier leak spilled by Google pinpointed the entry price at $349 unlocked.
