Legendary Pokémon Xerneas to Appear in Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros Xerneas

While most likely not a candidate for being a headlining playable character, Director Masahiro Sakurai teased the appearance of the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Sakurai took to his Miiverse account to announce the Xerneas’ appearance with a pic which featuring him slowly creeping up on an unsuspecting Pikachu. Poor little fellow is about to get his world rocked.

Despite the picture, he proclaimed nothing new to announce.

Pic of the day. We have absolutely nothing to announce today regarding Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Really!

Xerneas is the latest in a long string of Legendary Pokémon to grace the covers of Nintendo’s popular handheld series. He belongs to the newest category of Fairy-type Pokemon and finds himself front-and-center of the cover of Pokémon X. His Pokémon Y counterpart is Yveltal, a flying bird of the Dark-type Pokémon, and both are available to catch in later bits of the game.

Will these two make an appearance in the background of a level, or will they even be brought into the fray as a weaponized Pokémon trapped in pokeballs?
