Samsung has responded to complaints that some Galaxy S4 batteries are swelling, possibly creating a danger but more so creating an inconvenience, and will replace the batteries of affected users. According to PhoneArena, most of the problems have been reported in Europe and not in other places of the world.

“We are aware of this issue, which has affected a limited number of customers,” Samsung said in a statement. “We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service centre, where they can receive a replacement battery for free of charge. We remain committed to providing the best possible user experience for our customers.”

It’s unclear how this issue started in the first place. We haven’t heard any reports in the United States and haven’t seen it on our units, though you should definitely take advantage of the replacement if you’re having the issue.
