In between all of its Kickstarter projects, Double Fine found the time to make a little science fiction management simulator called Spacebase DF-9, and it is available now for 20 percent off at Steam Early Access.
Buying the game early contributes to the game’s further development as well as a say in the final project. The alpha build is currently selling for $20, and with it comes the very barebones look at the combat and simulation. Build a space station, manage resources, defend from enemies, challenge fellow players.
The management simulation genre has been very popular since FTL took off last year, and matched with the wit and humor Double Fine always brings to its games, it could be a winning combination.
Dropping an extra $5 also lands you the game’s soundtrack. Any takers on another Double Fine crowd-funded game? This is the third time the company has turned to its fans to help fund a game, and they have yet to deliver a final product. Its $3 million Kickstarter game Broken Age has run into financial trouble as well, its team releasing it on Early Access soon for more funds.
