Apple is expected to unveil the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 at a special event on Oct. 22 in California according to recent reports, meaning the new tablet could be in Apple Stores by the end of the month. If you can’t wait that long though, designer Martin Hajek—who’s well know in the Apple community for his high-quality renderings—has created a new set of images showing the fifth-generation iPad on display.
Hajek’s latest renders are based off the many leaked photos of the iPad 5, which have all but confirmed the new tablet will take its design cues from the iPad mini, offering a thinner side bezel, reoriented speaker grills and a slimmer frame. The device is also expected to come in the same silver, gold and space gray hues as the iPhone 5s, and may feature the new iPhone’s Touch ID fingerprint reader as well.
Under the hood, the iPad 5 will likely come equipped with Apple’s new A7 processor, while the iPad mini 2 is expected to sport an A6 chip. The smaller iOS tablet may also come in gold, silver and space gray, and offer fingerprint scanning. We won’t know anything for sure until Apple makes its official announcement, but at this point we’re not expecting any big surprises from the company’s updated line of tablets.
