Kindle has been lighting up a storm on the Amazon top sellers lists recently with the Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Fire often dominating the other best selling electronics devices on the popular online retailer. Well, that extended streak has finally been broken thanks to Google’s Chromecast, which has peaked on the website in the number one place for the first time.
The $35 steaming media device has become something of a quiet hit since its release in July. Despite the limited media options currently available, the price has been difficult for competitors to beat. Google has not released any official sales figures, but shortages and atop-selling lists have led to easy speculation that it is doing quite well.
Not surprisingly, the boost in popularity comes just a few days after the Chromecast started shipping abroad.
The success has not gone unnoticed either, especially by Amazon themselves. The recently filed trademark for a device known as Firetube is believed to be Amazon’s competitor against Google in this possibly new hot market for cheaply streamed media.
