The HTC Desire 601 is on reportedly its way to Virgin Mobile USA. According to an image provided by @evleaks, who is becoming an ever-reliable source of info, the device could launch on Sunday, Oct. 20, though I’m basing that guess solely on the date rendered on the 601’s home screen.
Otherwise, it appears the affordable handset will be do well to endear HTC to the low- to -mid-range crowd; the device packs a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 chip, 4.5-inch qHD display, 5-megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, 2100mAh battery, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and all the flair of Sense 5, including BlinkFeed and Zoe. Additionally, the device will also sport BoomSound audio, which has quickly become a staple in HTC’s diet.
Virgin has a pretty well-rounded lineup of devices, most recently introducing Apple’s popular iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. The HTC Desire 601—the name is a mouthful—is no HTC One, though it sounds like a pretty solid low-end device that’ll get the job done. Since this is HTC we’re talking about, it’ll no doubt feature excellent build quality; this device features the company’s familiar soft touch back. As soon as we have a release and price, we’ll be sure to let you know.
