The next version of HTC’s ever-progressing Sense software will allow users to easily turn off BlinkFeed. According to images dug up by HTC Rom maker mike1986, Sense 5.5 will present users with an “easy toggle for BlinkFeed,” along with some new camera features, a “Do Not Disturb” mode and more. For the most part, the updates looks every bit as good as Sense 5, just with some nice added touches to spice up the overall experience.
Among the images, additional options appear to be headed to BlinkFeed—essentially HTC’s take on FlipBoard— which include new categories and a custom topics tab. Other features coming to Sense 5.5 will be the ability to re-order quick settings, that aforementioned “Do Not Disturb” mode, new emoji icons and a revamped task switcher, which will display bigger preview windows. The camera app will also now feature a Panorama+ mode and Dual Capture mode, which both sound like tweaks being plucked from elsewhere in the Android universe.
AndroidCentral said the changes have been confirmed as real, though it’s unclear when Sense 5.5 will be finalized and pushed out, especially when Android 4.3 (with Sense 5.0) is only just being pushed out to HTC’s popular One handset. The company has teased an event being held on Oct. 15, so perhaps we’ll get a few glimpses of what Sense 5.5 has in store then.
