Skype for iOS 7 Updated with Flatter Features

Skype recently issued an update for its iPhone application that takes advantage of the flatter user interface features in iOS 7. As you can see from the screen shot above, it also employs the same design style that Apple uses in its own iOS 7 apps, including the overflow of the color in the top bar into the battery life, clock and signal strength indicator area in the operating system.

Additionally, all of the buttons used throughout the user interface are flatter – the video call and volume buttons, for example, don’t have any noticeable gradient. Same goes for the chat area, which looks very similar to iMessage in iOS 7. Skype also said that the update includes other small improvements, such as bug fixes and dialpad changes, and that the software will announce the senders name during a message chat, provided VocieOver is activated.

The update, which is free and available now, will still run iOS 6 and iOS 6 devices.
