Latest Google Glass Update Introduces Public Transit Directions

Google Glass got an update today in the form of a new app called Transit, designed to offer public transportation directions in a similar style to Google Maps on desktop and mobile. The search giant broke the news earlier this afternoon on the wearable device’s official Google+ account.

Unfortunately for iPhone owners, Transit on Google Glass only works if it’s paired with an Android handset. Overall, screenshots of the app give it the look of a streamlined version of Google Maps, offering information on everything from multi-step subway directions to estimated travel time. There’s no subway map, instead users will see a simple line with different colors representing different transit lines, while a dotted line indicates walking.

The latest Google Glass update also adds the ability to select links in your notifications by tapping on the device’s touchpad. Google notes that this was a commonly requested feature, though it’s not quite as exciting as Transit. You can check out the full list of updates over at the MyGlass Explorers Community.
