ZTE on Thursday unveiled two new smartphones, including the Grand S and the nubia 5, both of which will be sold unlocked in the United States, which means they can be purchased without a carrier contract.

The Grand S, pictured above, runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is two generations old at this point, and sports a 5-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor,  a 13-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1,780mAh battery, 16GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. Pre-orders start on Oct. 5 and will be available from Amazon for $399.99 as well as through other outlets.

The nubia 5 is the higher-end of the two phones. It’s equipped with a similar 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and has the same 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. However, it packs a better Konica-Minolta 13-megapixel camera with a sapphire lens, in addition to a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Pre-orders for the nubia 5 also started on Oct. 5, and it will launch for $449.99 from Amazon and other retail outlets.
