15 years in and Google is still working to perfect search. The company rolled out an updated version of its flagship service for Android devices today, introducing a redesigned app that introduces new “notable people” information cards for Google Now and a new hotword for launching voice search.
Google is pushing out the update throughout the week, but the company officially announced the news today, updating the “What’s New” changelog on Google Play to note the latest updates will only work for Android 4.1 and up. For frequent users of voice search, the company has updated the hotword used to launch the service to “Ok Google” in an effort to bring the Android app in line with Google Glass.
Google Now also now offers an option to choose important people to follow on the service. Just search for someone famous and Google will offer you the option to receive the latest updates on them via information cards. Finally, the company notes that it is making mobile search results “more beautiful,” though it’s unclear exactly what that means.
