And the crowd goes wild! It’s all over! Mighty No. 9 came, it saw, it conquered. The popular Kickstarter campaign closed out overnight with an astounding $3.85 million pledged from fans around the world, securing all of its stretch goals and cementing it as the third most funded video game to survive the Kickstarter gauntlet.
Thanks to efforts through PayPal, in which Comcept claims they have raked in and additional $186,000, the campaign concluded with over $4 million total. This final push secured a release on PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS and an online race mode to be played between friends.
Congratulations to Keiji Inafune, Comcept, Inti Creates, and everyone else involved with the project. It was a wild ride to watch Mega Man fans, now Mighty No. 9 fans, come out by the tens of thousands and proclaim support for this unbelievable project, and I hope the game is just as thrilling when it comes out in 2015.
If you missed out and still want to feel involved, don’t lose hope just yet. Comcept is still taking donations through PayPal, and WayForward’s Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Drifter are both about to wrap up in the coming days. Check out these two respective Kickstarter pages or our extensive interview with Hyper Light Drifter‘s creator, Alex Preston.
All three projects supported each other through the Kickstarter process, so if one succeeds, then it is only right that they all do.
